At the XV Congress of the Spanish Association of Agricultural Economics (AEEA), Patrick Hoffmann received the prize for Best Research Communication among Young Researchers. The award was given for the presentation of the study “Beyond property rights in irrigation systems: An exploration of psychological ownership and farmers’ perceptions of water savings.”

The research was developed during Patrick’s affiliation with the Autonomous 伟德国际_伟德国际1946$娱乐app游戏 of Barcelona as part of the research project RECOUNT. The study examines how farmers perceive water savings generated by irrigation modernization, applying the concept of psychological ownership to better understand distributional beliefs, and use preferences. So far, little is known about the behavioral dimensions of irrigation rebound effects, making this study a pioneering contribution towards better assessing the potential for sustainable and ecological water uses in the context of collective agricultural water management.

The study will be shortly submitted for publication and (hopefully) shared soon with the research community.
